Seeing an old friend and a birthday party!

Last Thursday my friend Stacey came over with her son Ian. Stacey moved to Jacksonville about 6 or 7 years ago and just moved back to Georgia a couple of weeks ago. I am so glad she did so that we can get together more now. She also only lives about 20 minutes away. Her little boy Ian is the same age as Jake so they had fun playing together.  They are enjoying a cookie in the picture above. We are going to try and get together at least once or maybe twice a week.

Having fun riding around

On Sunday, we went to a birthday party.  My friend Jeanette's twin boys Cole and Hunter turned 2 years old. They have an awesome play set out back in their huge yard. I wish we had such a big yard at our house.  Jake and Ben had a great time playing and eating cake and ice cream.  Jake kept thinking he was going to get to open the presents.

You may think Ben and Jeanette's son Tanner look the same age. No, no, no.  Tanner is 6 months and Ben is 13 months. Can you believe how big Tanner is or how little Ben is?  I don't know what or who Jeanette is feeding him.  We haven't seen him in a while and he is so cute.

Ben had just woke up from falling asleep in the car so he doesn't look too happy.

Yard Sale and the Unknown Comic

Last month we received a letter saying that our subdivision and the one next to us were going to have a community yard sale. I have been wanting to have one for a while now to get rid of some of the million toys and baby clothes we have, so we decided to do it! I was worried that I wouldn't get things together in time, but it really wasn't too bad.  Our DVDs seem to be the best seller, but I did sale lots of toys too.  Yeah!!  Overall we did pretty good and made $108 which will go to the stay at home mom fund.

We actually brought out even more clothes to sell as the day went on.

Ben had fun hanging out

We tried to sell Jake, but no good offers were made.

I don't know if some of you are old enough to remember the Unknown Comic.  I believe he used to be on Saturday Night Live and my uncle used to imitate him too.  Well, one night we ate Chinese and Lee decided to place the bag on Jake's head. Then he took it off and made a hole so he could drink his juice.  Jake liked it and thought it was funny.

Laughing it up!

Lately Ben has been climbing onto the ledge at the bottom of the stairs and tries to climb up the stairs.  I haven't put the gate up yet like I did for Jake because Ben cracks me up when he does this.  He knows I come to get him when he does it so he laughs about it. I had to video it today to show all of you how cute his little laugh is. I go get him and he goes right back and does it again while laughing.

Visiting with Paw Paw

On Sunday we went to visit my grandfather.  Many of you know he broke his hip a few weeks ago and found out while he was in the hospital that his lung cancer is back.  He is too fragile and the cancer is to far long that they didn't want to do surgery on his hip.  He is now in a very nice Hospice where they can watch him 24 hours a day. My mom and her brother and sisters are still staying nights with him.  The Hospice and people there were very nice. They even had a little area with toys where Jake could play while we visited Paw Paw.  He looked great!  Please continue to pray for him, my grandmother and aunts and uncles.

Sneaky boy

Last night I was making dinner while the kids were playing in the floor. Well, Jake became rather quiet. For all you mothers out there, you know something is going on when they get quiet. I left the cupcake box from Ben's party on the dining room table. I kept calling Jake and asking him what he was doing. His response was always, "anything" or "not anything" which is his way of saying I'm not doing anything. He also kept wanting to turn on the dining room light. Obviously so he could get a better look at the cupcakes. I finally peeked around the corner and this is what I found.

You see the cupcake box is open and if you look closely, you can see red icing on his left hand.

Tada! Red icing face

Ben's 1st birthday!

August 29 was Ben's 1st birthday. We celebrated it on Sunday, August 31, 2008. It was a great day, but some important people were missing. Nana couldn't make it since she was just down here a few weeks ago and my mom was at the hospital with my grandfather. Some of you already know, but my grandfather is not doing well at all. He has had Alzheimers for several years and a few years ago was diagnosed with lung cancer. Well, Friday afternoon he fell and broke his hip in two places. When they did a scan at the hospital, they saw a large mass in his chest which was the cancer coming back. They do not want to do surgery on his hip since he is in such bad shape with the cancer. It is pretty much a waiting game at this point. I went to see him yesterday and he still does not know people, but he does talk to you and I gave him a big hug and kiss and told him I loved him and he said I love you too. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Back to Ben: We had a few good friends and family over to celebrate his Elmo themed party. He had such a good time. He was very alert and really enjoyed his cupcake. I gave it to him and turned for a second. When I turned back around, he already had half of it in his mouth. He enjoyed playing with his gifts, but Jake seems to think they are all his toys and not Ben's. I though it would be neat to see how small he was when he was born, so I put the picture above. Today we went for his 12 month checkup. He weighed 18 pounds and 2 ounces, which was the 2nd percentile. He was 28.5 inches long, which was the 13 percentile. She said he looked great and seemed to be doing really well. Ben did not like the ear exam or the shots! Who does like shots?

John Mayer

I had a girls night out Friday night. Gina, Krissy, Susan, Laura, and I went to see John Mayer at the new Encore Park Amphitheatre in Alpharetta. It was so neat to have a venue like that so close to home. We went out to dinner first and then to see John Mayer. Getting into the park was horrible, but once we arrived the concert was great! No signs of Jennifer Anniston. I know, I know they are on a break! :)
Fun with the girls!
